Popular – but why?

Iwade Panoramic img890So, I uploaded this picture on Flickr a few days ago. It is BY FAR my most viewed image already with over 1200 views! I am of course extremely pleased, but also very confused! I have added it to only a few groups and although i do like it, it certainly is not one of my favourites. However, here it is for you to enjoy. If you like it – let me know why!

Kodak EIR / Areochrome

I have been aware of this film for about 5-6 years, but never really had the money to be able to afford to buy it. It is a most challenging film to use and frankly i didn’t want to spent £50 a roll for it to not come out.  18months ago i won a roll on ebay for £34. It sat in my freezer for around 8 months until i went to Ireland. I took it on a whim and put it in my trusty Nikon FM. The weather was predictably awful and EIR tends (as i found) to only really like bright sunshine, fortunately I finished off the roll in England.

Below are a few of the pictures that i liked the most. I now have 5 rolls in the Freezer, it is the heroin of the film world. So addictive!

A sad day for film.

I was disappointed to hear that Three years after Fujifilm announced the discontinuation of its Sensia film, the firm’s UK arm has announced that it will close its E6 processing lab facility on 01 November 2014. Whilst it is understandable, it is yet another nail in the coffin for those who shoot film. I have a fair few rolls of process paid like many i am sure. Whilst i don’s want to waste it i may have to sell some / shoot much more to work through my stock. At least they have given a years notice. I suppose! Any ideas for my last rolls gratefully received!
